There was no surprise in Urumqi where 8th ranked Swordfish (10-10) was defeated by fourth ranked Magic Deer (16-4) 80-70. American center Natasha Howard (190-91, college: Florida St., agency: LBM Management) orchestrated the victory by scoring 39 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds. Taiwanese Szu-Chin Peng (163-91) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Magic Deer players scored in double figures. Montenegrin center Jelena Dubljevic (191-87, agency: BeoBasket) replied with a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds and guard Yingyun Li (173) added 5 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Swordfish. Magic Deer have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Jiangsu. Swordfish at the other side dropped to the ninth position with ten games lost. Magic Deer's next round opponent will be Jiangsu Phoenix (#3) in Nanjing, which may be the game of the day. Swordfish will play at home against the league's leader Vermilion Birds (#1) and hope to win that game.
