There was no surprise when 9th ranked Plasencia (5-8) was defeated at home by second ranked Marin (8-5) 69-65 on Wednesday. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Marin made 8 blocks. Jamaican-American center Vashil Fernandez (208-92, college: Valparaiso) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 8 blocks for the winners and guard Jorge Romero (192-90) chipped in 17 points.
