Regular Season Round 8: Al-Hala - Al-Najma 80-81

The most exciting game of round 8 in the Premier League took place in Muharraq. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 6th ranked Al-Hala (3-4) to eighth ranked Al-Najma (3-4) 81-80 in the game for the sixth place. Al-Najma looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American Kevin Rogers (206-86, college: Baylor) saved the victory with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 12 rebounds. International Mohamed Buallay (-95) contributed with 9 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. Thailand power forward Jalen Robinson (206-93, college: Dalton St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 17 rebounds and 4 assists and Jordanian Ahmed Jamal (-87) added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Al-Hala. Four Al-Hala players scored in double figures. Al-Hala's coach Zeljko Zecevic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Al-Najma moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Al-Hala and Sitra. Al-Najma will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Al-Hala will play at home against Al-Ahli (#3) and is hoping to win this game.
