No shocking result in a game when third ranked Soles (11-8) beat 7th ranked Huracanes (3-16) in Mexicali 89-80 on Thursday. Soles made 26-of-32 free shots (81.3 percent) during the game, while Huracanes only scored nine points from the stripe. They outrebounded Huracanes 39-19 including a 33-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Rayvonte Rice (193-92, college: Illinois) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 6 rebounds. The other American import forward Stacy Davis (198-94, college: Pepperdine) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Naturalized American guard Martin Samarco (190-85, college: Bowling Green) replied with 19 points (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and American forward Timajh Parker-Rivera (202-94, college: Towson) added 11 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Huracanes. Four Soles and five Huracanes players scored in double figures. Soles maintains third position with 11-8 record having four points less than leader Capitanes. Newly promoted Huracanes keep the seventh place with 16 games lost. Soles will face again Huracanes (#7) in Tampico in the next round.
