There was an upset in Beer Sheva where higher ranked Hapoel B/S (5-5) was edged by tenth ranked Maccabi Rishon (3-7) 84-81 on Thursday. Hapoel B/S was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Deshawn Stephens (203-89, college: San Diego St., agency: HMS) had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and international guard Egor Koulechov (196-94, college: Florida) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American forward Jordan Swing (198-90, college: UAB, agency: Two Points) responded with 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and his fellow American import Jakim Donaldson (204-83, college: Edinboro) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Maccabi Rishon maintains tenth position with 3-7 record, which they share with Hapoel T-A and Ironi Nahariya. Newly promoted Hapoel B/S keeps the sixth place with five games lost. Maccabi Rishon will face higher ranked Galil Gilboa (#5) in Rosh Pina in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
