Regular Season Round 13: Giants B - Gembo BBC 77-74

The most exciting game of round 13 in the Top Division I took place in Antwerp. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of much higher ranked Gembo BBC (9-3) to thirteenth ranked Giants B (3-9) 77-74 on Friday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Gembo BBC. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Giants B made 24 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Lenny Coppens (195-99) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 5 assists. Forward Niels De-Ridder (195-1) contributed with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 blocks for the winners. Forward Eli Van-Aken (193-85) answered with 19 points and 7 rebounds and Jens Bouckaert (-91) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Gembo BBC. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Giants B moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Sijsele. Gembo BBC at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. Giants B is looking forward to face league's second-placed Oxaco in Boechout in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gembo BBC will play on the road against Gent Hawks and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
