Undefeated leader Vermilion Birds delivered the twenty first consecutive victory. This time they beat 9th ranked Swordfish (10-11) 99-86 in Shanghai. Vermilion Birds made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. It was a good game for international center Yueru Li (192-99) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds. American forward Aerial Powers (183-94, college: Michigan St.) contributed with 33 points (!!!) for the winners. Four Vermilion Birds players scored in double figures. Montenegrin center Jelena Dubljevic (191-87, agency: BeoBasket) answered with 44 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 4 assists and center Zhiting Zhang (196) added 14 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Swordfish. Swordfish's coach rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the seventeenth consecutive win for Vermilion Birds. They maintain first place with 21-0 record. Swordfish at the other side keeps the ninth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Hebei and Sichuan. Vermilion Birds will play against Jiangsu Phoenix (#3) in Nanjing in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Swordfish will play on the road against the league's second-placed Bayi Kylin (#2) in Nanchang and hopes to get back on the winning track.
