Regular Season Round 7: Olympiacos - Niki Lefkadas 79-69

Undefeated leader Olympiacos delivered the seventh consecutive victory on Saturday night. This time they beat 7th ranked Niki Lefkadas (3-4) 79-69 in Pireus. Strangely Niki Lefkadas outrebounded Olympiacos 44-32 including 29 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for the former international forward Anna Spyridopoulou (184-88) who led her team to a victory scoring 14 points and 7 rebounds. Croatian power forward Mirna Mazic (188-85, college: Richmond, agency: ProDep Management) helped adding 13 points and 7 rebounds. Olympiacos' coach Giorgos Pantelakis used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American forward Ruvanna Campbell (189-93, college: Ill.-Chicago) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 24 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard Whitney Knight (190-93, college: FGCU) scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. Five Niki Lefkadas players scored in double figures. Olympiacos (7-0) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with a perfect record of 7 victories in a row. Niki Lefkadas lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with Eleutheria M. and Proteas. Olympiacos will meet Proteas (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Niki Lefkadas will play against Iraklis and hope to secure a win.
