Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Multiopticas Baza (6-5) defeated bottom-ranked Martos (2-8) in Alicante 83-70 on Saturday. Multiopticas Baza made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 24 Martos turnovers. It was a very good performance for point guard David Garcia (180-93) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 8 assists and 4 steals. Oscar Alonso contributed with 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Multiopticas Baza players scored in double figures. David Melero (-91) answered with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Argentinian point guard Gaston Zalazar (-96) added 8 points in the effort for Martos. Martos' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Multiopticas Baza maintains fifth place in Group D-A with 6-5 record. Newly promoted Martos dropped to the bottom position with eight games lost. Multiopticas Baza will face Unicaja-Andalucia (#9) in Malaga in the next round. Martos will play at home against Cazorla and hope to win that game.
