Regular Season Round 13: Quintanar - Estudiantes B 72-63

Rather predictable result when eighth ranked Quintanar (7-6) won against at home 10th ranked Estudiantes B (5-7) 72-63 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 32-20 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. It was a very good performance for American guard Khion Sankey (196-92, college: Lipscomb) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. Point guard Antonio Izquierdo (190-93) contributed with 15 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Quintanar players scored in double figures. Quintanar's coach David Varela used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lithuanian guard Dovydas Giedraitis (193-0) answered with 15 points and 5 rebounds and forward Diego Alderete (202-0) added 7 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Estudiantes B. Quintanar moved-up to fifth place in Group B, which they share with Guadalajara and Zentro Basket. Estudiantes B lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the eleventh position with seven games lost. Quintanar will face Rivas (#8) on the road in the next round.
