Regular Season Round 13: Univ.Burgos - Santurtzi 84-65

Everything went according to plan when first ranked Univ.Burgos (9-1) outplayed at home 8th ranked Santurtzi (5-5) 84-65 on Saturday. It was a very good performance for naturalized Angolan center Julio De-Assis (203-92) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Francisco Pomares (192-94) contributed with 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Five Univ.Burgos players scored in double figures. Univ.Burgos' coach Jose Luis Cubillo used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Unai Mendicote (196-99) answered with 21 points and 7 rebounds and Juan Torres (196-92) added 10 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Santurtzi. The victory was the third consecutive win for Univ.Burgos. They maintain first place in Group A-A with 9-1 record, which they share with Ardoi. Loser Santurtzi keeps the eighth position with five games lost. Univ.Burgos will face Pas Pielagos (#3) in Renedo de Pielagos in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Santurtzi will play at home against La Fecha (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
