Regular Season Round 10: Skrljevo - Zadar 87-88

A very close game took place in Skrljevo between KK Zadar and KK Skrljevo. Third ranked KK Zadar (7-3) got a very close victory on the road over 9th ranked KK Skrljevo (3-7). KK Zadar managed to escape with a 1-point win 88-87 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of KK Skrljevo. The guests trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 27-21 charge, which allowed them to win the game. KK Zadar made 29-of-35 free shots (82.9 percent) during the game. Mislav Brzoja (198-94, college: Evansville, agency: Octagon Europe) notched 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and American swingman Mario Little (198-87, college: Kansas) supported him with 26 points (made all of his nine free throws !!!). Even 17 points and 5 rebounds by American guard Ash Yacoubou (193-92, college: St.Louis) did not help to save the game for KK Skrljevo. Swingman Josip Barnjak (193-98) added 12 points and 5 assists for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. KK Skrljevo's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. KK Zadar moved-up to second place, which they share with Split and Cedevita. Loser KK Skrljevo dropped to the tenth position with seven games lost. They share it with Gorica. KK Zadar will meet at home Sibenik (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. KK Skrljevo will play against Gorica in Velika Gorica and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
