There was no surprise in Hitachinaka where 10th ranked Hitachi Cougars (4-9) were defeated by third ranked Toyota A. (10-3) 73-58 on Saturday. Toyota A. outrebounded Hitachi Cougars 39-26 including a 21-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international forward Ryoko Yano (178-78) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and forward Mayi Na (181-93) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side power forward Reimi Nunira (177-93) responded with 14 points and guard Yuki Kitamura (172-94) scored 13 points. Hitachi Cougars' coach Yabuuchi Natsumi rotated twelve players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Toyota A.. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Mitsubishi K. Hitachi Cougars lost their seventh game in a row. They dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. They share it with Aishin AW and Haneda Vickies. Toyota A. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hitachi Cougars will play again against Toyota A. (#3) in Nagoya and hope to secure a win.
