Regular Season Round 13: Naron - Ponferrada CDP 80-104

Date: December 15, 2018
Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Ponferrada CDP and 9th ranked Naron had identical 5-4 record. But Naron was not able to use a home court advantage and was crushed by the opponent from Ponferrada 104-80 on Saturday night. Ponferrada CDP made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Ponferrada CDP outrebounded Naron 36-23 including 23 on the defensive glass. It was a very good performance for Canadian swingman Taevaunn Prince (191-91, college: Missouri So.) who helped to win the game recording 30 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Amir Warnock (206-95, college: Ky Wesleyan) contributed with 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Ponferrada CDP players scored in double figures. Forward Ruben Rey (198-93) answered with 21 points and 5 rebounds and Bahamas forward Winslo Barry (208-90, college: Incarnate Word) added 16 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Naron. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Ponferrada CDP went down to fifth position (Group A-B) due to points difference, which they share with PBB and Gijon Basket. Loser Naron dropped to the eighth place with five games lost. Ponferrada CDP will face bottom-ranked Betanzos (#10) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Naron will play against Chantada and hope to win that game.
