Regular Season Round 11: Leganes - Real Canoe 89-81

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Leganes (8-3) beat at home 6th ranked Real Canoe (6-5) 89-81 on Saturday. Leganes dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Real Canoe's 32. They outrebounded Real Canoe 36-25 including a 26-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Center Daira Varas (193-89) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). American-U.S. Virgin Islands guard Imani Tate (175-95, college: Albany) contributed with 24 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Macarena Roldan-Garcia (173-94) answered with 24 points and 9 rebounds and forward Grace Alonso-de-Armino (180-92, college: Freed-Hardeman, agency: ProDep Management) added 14 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Real Canoe. Four Leganes and five Real Canoe players scored in double figures. Real Canoe's coach Jose Luis Vicente tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Leganes. They moved-up to third place in Group B, which they share with Almeria. Loser Real Canoe keeps the sixth position with five games lost. Leganes will face Gran Canaria (#9) in Las Palmas in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Real Canoe will play at home against Picken Claret and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
