Regular Season Round 11: Almeria - Estudiantes 70-58

Date: December 15, 2018
There was no surprise when 5th ranked ASEFA Estudiantes (6-5) lost on the road to third ranked Almeria (8-3) 70-58 on Saturday. Almeria made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Strangely ASEFA Estudiantes outrebounded Almeria 43-29 including a 16-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Power forward Alicia Gonzalez (187-86) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points and 8 rebounds. Argentinian point guard Macarena Durso (162-91) contributed with 14 points and 4 assists for the winners. The former international forward Amaya Gastaminza (189-91, college: Oregon St., agency: ProDep Management) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and center Aitana Cuevas (189-86) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for ASEFA Estudiantes. ASEFA Estudiantes' coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Almeria maintains third place in Group B with 8-3 record having just three points less than leader RC Celta, which they share with Leganes. Loser ASEFA Estudiantes dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. Almeria will face UCAM Jairis (#13) in Alcantarilla in the next round and are hoping to win another game. ASEFA Estudiantes will play at home against the league's second-placed Adelantados (#2) and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the LFB just one year after relegation.
