Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked Utrera (5-6) lost at home to leader Algeciras (11-0) 83-74 on Saturday. Utrera was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for British-Gibraltar forward Sam Buxton (199-89, college: N.Alabama) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and 7 rebounds. Naturalized Gibraltar point guard Miguel Ortega (188-91) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Forward Andres Tejada (195-98) answered with 12 points and 6 rebounds and Moroccan center Said Laghridat (201-86) added 10 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Utrera. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Utrera's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the eleventh consecutive win for Algeciras. Newly promoted Algeciras maintains first place in Group D-B with 11-0 record. Loser Utrera keeps the sixth position with six games lost. Algeciras will face bottom-ranked San Fernando (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Utrera will play against Caceres (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
