Regular Season Round 10: Ethnikos - Evropi 84-80

Ethnikos' fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after nine consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Evropi (4-6) 84-80 on Saturday. Ethnikos made 31-of-41 free shots (75.6 percent) during the game, while Evropi only scored fourteen points from the stripe. Forward Vassilis Tzimis (191-96) notched 25 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and naturalized Cypriot forward Prodromos Nikolaidis (201-78, agency: Interperformances) supported him with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Four Ethnikos players scored in double figures. Even 31 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists by forward Vassilis Kitsoulis (203-83) did not help to save the game for Evropi. Montenegrin Damjan Kandic (208-84) added 14 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Evropi's coach Evripidis Meletiadis rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ethnikos (1-9) left bottom position moving up to fifteenth place, which they share with Kavala. It was Evropi's third loss in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh position with six games lost. They share it with Marousi. Ethnikos will meet higher ranked Charilaos TM (#13) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Evropi will play against Psychiko and hope to secure a win.
