Very important is a home loss of second ranked Hapoel Holon (7-3) against eighth ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona (4-6) on Saturday night. Host Hapoel Holon was defeated by Ironi Nes-Ziona in Holon 88-78. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Hapoel Holon. Ironi Nes-Ziona dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Hapoel Holon's 38. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Naturalized Welsh Tal-Michael Dunne (198-87, agency: Avi Zilberman) notched 20 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and American-Puerto Rican guard Gary Browne (185-93, college: W.Virginia) supported him with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Even a double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds by American forward Darion Atkins (203-92, college: Virginia) did not help to save the game for Hapoel Holon. His fellow American import guard Khalif Wyatt (193-91, college: Temple, agency: Avi Zilberman) added 11 points and 9 assists for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ironi Nes-Ziona moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Bnei Hertzeliya. Hapoel Holon at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. They share it with Hapoel Eilat. Ironi Nes-Ziona will play against Bnei Hasharon (#7) in Hod Hasharon in the next round. Hapoel Holon will play on the road against Hapoel Jerusalem (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
