Regular Season Round 16: Gifu Swoops - Tokyo Big Blue 85-64

Bottom-ranked Tokyo Big Blue (0-10) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 85-64 loss to sixth ranked Gifu Swoops (7-15) in Gifu on Saturday evening. Gifu Swoops outrebounded Tokyo Big Blue 40-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Tokyo Big Blue's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Canadian center Michael Allison (206-90, college: Maine) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds and American Bingo Merriex (206-80, college: TCU) who added 8 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. At the losing side forward Bryan Simpson (197-84) responded with 7 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Kota Goto (176-94) scored 16 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Gifu Swoops maintains sixth position with 7-15 record. Loser Tokyo Big Blue still closes the standings with ten games lost. Gifu Swoops will again meet at home bottom-ranked Tokyo Big Blue (#10) in the next round. Tokyo Big Blue will have a break next round.
