Regular Season Round 13: Aridane - Rivas 97-89

There was an upset when higher ranked Rivas (6-7) lost to fifteenth ranked Aridane (4-9) in Los Llanos 89-97 on Saturday. Aridane shot 64.6 percent from the field and made 25-of-30 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game, while Rivas only scored eight points from the stripe. Aridane had a 28-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Aridane especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. It was a very good performance for Mali-American power forward Nouhoum Bocoum (207-92, college: Arkansas St.) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Billy McDonald (198-94, college: Caldwell) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Four Aridane players scored in double figures. Eduardo Martinez (193-96) answered with 27 points and American center Julien Sargent (211-91, college: Mobile, AL) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Rivas. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Aridane moved-up to fourteenth place in Group B, which they share with Casvi. Loser Rivas dropped to the eighth position with seven games lost. Aridane will have a break next round.
