Tenth-ranked Panionios (3-6) gave a tough game to third ranked Peristeri GS (8-1) in Athens on Saturday. Peristeri GS managed to secure only three-point victory 74-71. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Panionios. Peristeri GS made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Ghanian-American forward Ben Bentil (206-95, college: Providence) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. American Steven Gray (196-89, college: Gonzaga, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 19 points. Four Peristeri GS players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Davion Berry (193-91, college: Weber St.) who recorded 27 points and 4 assists and the other American import forward EJ Singler (198-90, college: Oregon) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Peristeri GS. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Olympiacos. Loser Panionios dropped to the ninth position with six games lost. They share it with Lavrio. Peristeri GS will meet league's second-placed Olympiacos in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Panionios will play against PAOK (#6) and hope to secure a win.
