Regular Season Round 13: Sparta - Larochette 97-105

There was a minor upset in Bertrange where 6th ranked Sparta (4-9) was defeated by eighth ranked Larochette (4-9) 105-97. Larochette outrebounded Sparta 55-36 including a 37-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Larochette especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American guard Daeshon Francis (193, college: Texas-PB) nailed a double-double by scoring 32 points, 17 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side and his fellow American import forward Desmond Williams (201-95, college: Florida A&M) accounted for 27 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Larochette's coach Brian Carroll allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international Dean Gindt (201-91) came up with 29 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Mike Best (208-93, college: Cal-Irvine) added 19 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Sparta in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Larochette moved-up to seventh place, which they share with defeated Sparta. Larochette will play against higher ranked Racing (#4) in Luxembourg in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sparta will play at home against Kordall Steelers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
