Regular Season Round 14: Estela - Aquimisa LZ 63-47

Round 14 in LEB Silver means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Santander where host Estela (9-5) beat league's leader Zamorano (9-5) 63-47 on Sunday evening. It was a key game for the top position in Silver. Estela held Zamorano to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 39.4 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Zamorano 50-35 including 37 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Chadian center Placide Nakidjim (205-94) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds. American guard Lamonte Thomas (187-90, college: J.and Wales, RI) chipped in 7 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Estela's coach Inaki Merino used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American-Italian point guard Anthony Libroia (180-94, college: Adelphi) produced 9 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Luke Meikle (206-94, college: Cal Poly - SLO) added 7 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the guests. Estela keeps a position of Silver leader. Zamorano will play next round against strong Marin trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Estela will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Zornotza in Amorebieta-Echano.
