Regular Season Round 10: Asseco Arka - BM Slam Stal 86-73

The game between Top Four teams took place in Gdynia. Second ranked host Asseco Arka (8-2) defeated one of their biggest challengers BM Slam Stal (7-3) 86-73. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of BM Slam Stal. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Asseco Arka looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international guard Marcel Ponitka (195-97) scored 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international point guard Krzysztof Szubarga (178-84) chipped in 17 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) during the contest. Asseco Arka's coach Przemyslaw Frasunkiewicz used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Montenegrin Ivan Maras (207-86) responded with 14 points and 6 rebounds and American point guard Mike Scott (184-93, college: Idaho) scored 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Asseco Arka and four BM Slam Stal players scored in double figures. Asseco Arka maintains second position with 8-2 record behind leader Stelmet Enea, which they share with Polski Cukier. BM Slam Stal at the other side dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. They share the position with Anwil and Polpharma. Asseco Arka is looking forward to face AZS Koszalin (#14) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. BM Slam Stal will play against Wilki Morskie (#9) in Szczecin and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
