Very important is a road loss of third ranked Real Madrid (9-3) against seventeenth ranked Leche Rio Breogan (3-8) on Sunday night. Visiting Real Madrid was defeated by Leche Rio Breogan in Lugo 84-71. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Real Madrid. It looked good early as Real Madrid took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Leche Rio Breogan had a 25-13 second period charge getting the lead and Real Madrid was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 71-84. The winners were led by Serbian point guard Aleksandar Cvetkovic (188-93, agency: BeoBasket) who scored that evening 10 points and 4 assists and Swedish Johan Lofberg (199-95) supported him with 13 points. Four Leche Rio Breogan players scored in double figures. Even 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists by international point guard Sergio Llull (190-87) did not help to save the game for Real Madrid. American Trey Thompkins (208-90, college: Georgia) added 12 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Leche Rio Breogan moved-up to sixteenth place, which they share with Estudiantes. Defending champion Real Madrid dropped to the second position with three games lost. They share it with Baskonia and Unicaja. Leche Rio Breogan will play against higher ranked Andorra (#11) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Real Madrid will play against UCAM Murcia (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
