Regular Season Round 13: Leon - PBB 96-65

Very expected game when 6th ranked PBB (6-4) was smashed on the road by second ranked Leon (8-2) 96-65 on Sunday. Leon dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to PBB's 28. They outrebounded PBB 42-29 including a 33-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Leon looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by PBB's players. PBB was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American power forward Darreon Tolliver (201-92, college: York, NE) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Mateo Sanchez (188-99) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Five Leon players scored in double figures. Point guard Lucas Vaquero (185-89) answered with 15 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Javier Dominguez (199-94) added 11 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for PBB. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Leon. They keep a position of Group A-B leader, which they share with Innova Chef. Newly promoted PBB dropped to the fifth place with four games lost. Leon will face Culleredo (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. PBB will play against the league's leader Innova Chef and hope to win that game.
