Regular Season Round 9: Olimpia - Gomel-Sozh 91-40

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Olimpia (9-1) crushed 7th ranked Gomel-Sozh (2-8) in Grodno 91-40. The game without a history. Olimpia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Gomel-Sozh to just 6 points in first and fourth quarters. Olimpia held Gomel-Sozh to an opponent 17.5 percent shooting from the field compared to 55.9 percent accuracy of the winners. Olimpia forced 20 Gomel-Sozh turnovers and outrebounded them 44-27 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Gomel-Sozh's players. International swingman Arina Masko (175-99) stepped up and scored 17 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners and forward Natallia Dashkevich (188-88) chipped in 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Four Olimpia players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Maryna Rakauskaya (173-92) with 17 points and 6 rebounds and forward Anna Hatskevich (180-92) scored 9 points and 5 rebounds. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Olimpia. They maintain second place with 9-1 record having just one point less than leader Tsmoki-Minsk. Gomel-Sozh lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the seventh position with eight games lost. Olimpia will play against Gorizont II (#6) in Minsk in the next round. Gomel-Sozh will play at home against BrGU COR Victoria and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
