Date: December 16, 2018
There was no surprise when 7th ranked Bendigo Spirit (6-9) was crushed on the road by fifth ranked Dandenong Rangers (7-6) 87-63 on Sunday. Dandenong Rangers had a 33-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Dandenong Rangers especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Bendigo Spirit's players. Guard Rebecca Cole (178-92) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists for the winners. Guard Abigail Wehrung (177-95) produced 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international point guard Natalie Hurst (164-83) added 15 points respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Dandenong Rangers have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 7-6 record. Bendigo Spirit lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with nine games lost. Dandenong Rangers will face league's leader Boomers in Melbourne in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Bendigo Spirit will play at home against Townsville Fire (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
