Regular Season Round 13: Valladolid - Castello 70-56

Everything went according to plan in Valladolid where twelfth ranked Carramimbre (7-7) won against 14th ranked Castello (4-10) 70-56. The game was mostly controlled by Carramimbre. Castello was better in second period 14-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Carramimbre won last quarter 24-11. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Castello's 28. They outrebounded Castello 44-29 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Center Sergio De-La-Fuente (198-89) nailed a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side and American guard Greg Gantt (188-91, college: Florida Atlantic) accounted for 17 points. Serbian Brano Djukanovic (194-95) came up with 17 points (made all of his eight free throws) and American center Nick Washburn (208-91, college: Hillsdale, agency: Duran International) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Castello in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Carramimbre moved-up to ninth place. Castello at the other side dropped to the seventeenth position with ten games lost. Carramimbre's next round opponent will be higher ranked Oviedo CB (#7) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Castello will play against Leyma Basquet (#14) and hope to win that game.
