Regular Season Round 13: Snaefell - Haukar 75-58

Second ranked Snaefell (10-3) crushed at home 7th ranked Haukar (3-10) by 17 points 75-58, which is the biggest margin this round on Wednesday night. The game was mostly controlled by Snaefell. Haukar managed to win second period 11-8. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Snaefell dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Haukar's 26. Snaefell forced 20 Haukar turnovers. American swingman Kristen McCarthy (180-90, college: Temple) fired a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!), 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals for the winners. The former international guard Gunnhildur Gunnarsdottir (176-90) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws). Snaefell's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American swingman Lele Hardy (182-88, college: Clemson) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Eva Kristjansdottir (180-97) added 10 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. The victory was the third consecutive win for Snaefell. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with KR and Keflavik. Haukar lost their sixth game in a row. Defending champion keeps the seventh place with ten games lost. Snaefell will meet Valur (#4) in the next round. Haukar will play against Skallagrimur and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
