Very expected game when 7th ranked Slovan (2-10) was smashed by third ranked Piestanske C. (8-4) in Piestany 76-44 on Wednesday. Piestanske C. outrebounded Slovan 40-28 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a good game for international center Rebeka Mikulasikova (191-99) who led her team to a victory with 32 points and 7 rebounds. Center Ema Mihaljevicova (179-97) contributed with 10 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Center Zofia Zarevuckaa (190-95) replied with 15 points and 9 rebounds and center Renata Talajkova (190-81) added 10 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Slovan. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Piestanske C. have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 8-4 record having four points less than leader MBK Ruzomb. Slovan lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with ten games lost. Piestanske C. are looking forward to face Samorin (#4) on the road in the next round. Slovan will play against Banska Bystrica and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
