Regular Season Round 11: Stjarnan - Haukar 100-89

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Stjarnan (7-4) beat at home 9th ranked Haukar (4-7) 100-89. The game was mostly controlled by Stjarnan. Haukar was better in second period 30-27. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Stjarnan players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. It was a great evening for Finnish Antti Kanervo (192-89, agency: Blacktop Management) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points and 4 assists. The former international point guard Aegir Steinarsson (185-91, college: Newberry, agency: Duran International) helped adding 19 points and 8 assists. Five Stjarnan players scored in double figures. Stjarnan's coach Arnar Gudjonsson allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Point guard Dadi-Lar Jonsson (182-96) responded with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Kristinn Marinosson (194-91) scored 20 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Stjarnan have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 7-4 record, which they share with KR. Haukar at the other side dropped to the eighth position with seven games lost. They share it with IR. Stjarnan will play against IR (#8) in Reykjavik in the next round. Haukar will play at home against Valur and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
