The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Bayi Kylin as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Bayi Kylin defeated 3rd placed Jiangsu Phoenix in Nanchang 86-71. It ended at the same time the ten-game winning streak of Jiangsu Phoenix. Bayi Kylin made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Jiangsu Phoenix 41-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. Bayi Kylin looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for the former international swingman Jiabao Jin (184-93) who led her team to a victory scoring 22 points and 7 rebounds. International Mengran Sun (197-92) helped adding 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Canadian Natalie Achonwa (190-92, college: Notre Dame) responded with 28 points and 9 rebounds and Jiayin Jiang (183-95) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bayi Kylin (22-1) have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Jiangsu Phoenix at the other side keeps the third place with four games lost. Jiangsu Phoenix will play next round against Fujian Nanan trying to get back on the winning streak. Bayi Kylin will try to continue on its current victory against sixteenth ranked Red Wolves in Weinan.
