Regular Season Round 11: Thor Thorl - Valur 114-98

Rather expected game when 10th ranked Valur (3-8) lost to seventh ranked Thor Thorl (5-6) in Thorlakshofn 98-114. Thor Thorl players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. It was a great evening for American-Croatian guard Nick Tomsick (185-91, college: Fort Lewis) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 10 assists. American forward Kinu Rochford (200-90, college: Fair Dickinson) helped adding 26 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. Gunnar Hardarson (185-96, college: Belm.Abbey) responded with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and Bulgarian forward Aleks Simeonov (200-93) scored 22 points and 5 rebounds. Four Thor Thorl and five Valur players scored in double figures. Valur's coach Agust Bjoergvinsson rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Thor Thorl moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Grindavik. Valur at the other side keeps the tenth position with eight games lost. Thor Thorl will play against league's leader Tindastoll in Sauoarkrokur in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Valur will play on the road against Haukar (#9) in Hafnarfjordur and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
