Regular Season Round 9: Sitra - Isa Town 92-99

An interesting game took place in Sitra where higher ranked Sitra (3-5) was upset on its own court by eleventh ranked Isa Town (2-6) 99-92 on Thursday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Sitra. Isa Town made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Sitra turnovers. Tunisian Ahmed Salman stepped up and scored 34 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Mansoor Jaber chipped in 31 points (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). The best for the losing side was Qatari center Mohammad Abdullah (205-82) with 28 points, 9 assists and 5 steals and the former international guard Hussain Taqi (173-78) scored 25 points and 5 assists. Four Sitra players scored in double figures. Sitra's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Isa Town moved-up to tenth place. Loser Sitra keeps the seventh position with five games lost. Isa Town will face Al-Nweidrat (#12) in Nuwaidrat in the next round.
