Regular Season Round 15: Kotwica - Gornik Walbrzych 95-80

We should mention about the upset which took place in Kolobrzeg, where higher ranked Gornik (7-8) lost to fifteenth ranked Kotwica (5-10) in a road game 80-95 on Friday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gornik. Kotwica looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for Jakub Zalewski (184-86) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points. Daniel Grujic (201-90, agency: Alti Sport) helped adding 17 points. Four Kotwica players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was swingman Hubert Kruszczynski (187-95) with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international center Piotr Niedzwiedzki (210-93) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kotwica have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain fifteenth place with 5-10 record. Newly promoted Gornik dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost. Kotwica will meet at home higher ranked Biofarm PZN (#11) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gornik will play against Pogon Prudnik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
