Regular Season Round 11: H.Tel-Aviv - Holon 74-92

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv (3-8) was defeated at home by second ranked Hapoel Holon (8-4) 92-74. The game was mostly controlled by Hapoel Holon. Hapoel Tel-Aviv was better in third quarter 19-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hapoel Holon shot the lights out from three nailing 15 long-distance shots on high 55.6 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Corey Walden (188-92, college: E.Kentucky) who led the winners and scored 25 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. His fellow American import forward Darion Atkins (203-92, college: Virginia) accounted for 13 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side. Hapoel Holon's coach Dan Shamir allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. International power forward Richard Howell (203-90, college: NC State) came up with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and international Tomer Ginat (202-94) added 17 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) respectively for Hapoel Tel-Aviv in the defeat. Four Hapoel Holon and five Hapoel Tel-Aviv players scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Hapoel Holon. Despite that victory Hapoel Holon went down to third position due to points difference. Hapoel Tel-Aviv at the other side dropped to the bottom place with eight games lost. Hapoel Holon's next round opponent will be Ironi Nahariya (#11) at home and are hoping to win another game. Hapoel Tel-Aviv will play against the league's second-placed Hapoel Eilat and hope to win that game.
