Regular Season Round 25: Kawasaki BT - Nagoya DD 78-80

The most exciting game of round 25 in the B League took place in Kanagawa. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of their biggest opponent Toshiba Thunders (14-12) to third ranked Diamond Dolphins (16-10) 80-78 in the game for the second place. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Toshiba Thunders. Strangely Toshiba Thunders outrebounded Diamond Dolphins 42-27 including 34 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American Markeith Cummings (198-88, college: Kennesaw St.) stepped up and scored 17 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners and his fellow American import Craig Brackins (208-87, college: Iowa St.) chipped in 12 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Diamond Dolphins players scored in double figures. Diamond Dolphins' coach Shingo Kajiyama used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American power forward Vernon Macklin (208-86, college: Florida) responded with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 18 rebounds and the former international point guard Yuma Fujii (178-91) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Diamond Dolphins moved-up to second place. Toshiba Thunders at the other side dropped to the third position with 12 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
