Everything went according to plan in Torun where third ranked Twarde Pierniki (9-2) won against 6th ranked Polpharma (7-4) 96-87 on Saturday. They outrebounded Polpharma 40-27 including 28 on the defensive glass. Twarde Pierniki looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was a great evening for Senegalese center Cheikh Mbodj (208-87, college: Cincinnati, agency: Octagon Europe) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds. International Aaron Cel (203-87) helped adding 15 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Twarde Pierniki players scored in double figures. American point guard Justin Bibbins (173-96, college: Utah) responded with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists and the other American import guard Tre Bussey (190-91, college: Georgia South) scored 17 points. Polpharma's coach Artur Gronek rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Twarde Pierniki moved-up to second place, which they share with Asseco Arka. Loser Polpharma keeps the sixth position with four games lost. Twarde Pierniki will meet Start (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Polpharma will play against Spojnia Stargard (#13) and hope to secure a win.
