Regular Season Round 14: Rivas - Quintanar 90-78

There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Rivas (7-7) defeated at home 6th ranked Quintanar (7-7) 90-78 on Saturday. They outrebounded Quintanar 42-25 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Rivas especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. Power forward Angel Gomez (197-87) scored 5 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Eduardo Martinez (193-96) chipped in 20 points during the contest. Rivas' coach Juanjo Simon allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American guard Khion Sankey (196-92, college: Lipscomb) responded with 23 points and 6 rebounds and Senegalese center Serigne Ndiaye (204-98) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Rivas have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place in Group B, which they share with Quintanar and Zentro Basket. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
