Regular Season Round 25: Akita NH - Chiba Jets 86-89

Fifth-ranked Akita Happinets (10-15) gave a tough game to second ranked Chiba Jets (20-5). The visitors from Chiba managed to secure only three-point victory 89-86. However their fans expected easier game. Chiba Jets forced 22 Akita Happinets turnovers. They shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. Chiba Jets players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) nailed 20 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side and the former international guard Shigehiro Taguchi (184-90) accounted for 14 points and 5 steals. Five Chiba Jets players scored in double figures. American power forward Justin Keenan (202-88, college: Ferris St.) came up with 36 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and Bahamas forward Dwight Coleby (206-94, college: W.Kentucky) added 11 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Akita Happinets in the defeat. Akita Happinets' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Chiba Jets have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain second place with 20-5 record having just four point less than leader Tochigi Brex. Newly promoted Akita Happinets keep the fifth position with 15 games lost. Chiba Jets will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Akita Happinets will play again at home against the league's second-placed Chiba Jets (#2) and hope to get back on the winning track.
