Regular Season Round 14: AZS PCz - Pogon RS 83-87

There was a small surprise in Czestochowa where eighth ranked Pogon RS (7-7) beat 6th ranked AZS PCz (7-7) 87-83 on Saturday. Pogon RS looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was center Tomasz Stankala (202-91) who had a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds. Point guard Mateusz Pawlik (180-92) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. Piotr Lucka (194-96) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points, 16 rebounds and 8 assists and Ukrainian swingman Yaroslav Fomichov (196-94) added 19 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Pogon RS moved-up to seventh place in Group C, which they share with defeated AZS PCz. Pogon RS will face higher ranked AZS UJK Kielce (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
