Rather expected game when 12th ranked Milano (4-9) was smashed at home by ninth ranked Marghera (6-6) 71-40 on Saturday. Marghera held Milano to an opponent 22.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 43.5 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Milano 41-29 including a 33-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for guard Sara Toffolo (184-0) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 18 rebounds. Guard Alice Mandelli (172-93) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Cecilia Zagni (180-95) answered with 12 points and point guard Elena Quaroni (170-98) added 11 points in the effort for Milano. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Marghera maintains ninth place in A2 with 6-6 record. Loser Milano keeps the twelfth position with nine games lost. Marghera will face higher ranked Scrivia (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Milano will play against Moncalieri (#5) and hope to win that game.
