The game in Galdakao was also quite interesting. Fifth ranked Rioja (9-3) played at the court of 7th ranked GDKO Bizkaia (6-6). Rioja managed to secure a 5-point victory 85-80 on Saturday. Rioja outrebounded GDKO Bizkaia 46-29 including 31 on the defensive glass. GDKO Bizkaia was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Briahanna Jackson (168-93, college: Louisville) who helped to win the game recording 34 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and Canadian swingman Jessica Fequiere (180-93, college: Albany) who added 16 points and 15 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Peyton Ferris (175-93, college: Montana St.) with 26 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Maria Espana (180-92) scored 22 points. GDKO Bizkaia's coach Jose Maria Alcantara rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Rioja have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place in Group A, which they share with Barca CBS. Loser GDKO Bizkaia dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. Rioja will face league's second-placed Aros Patatas in Leon in the next round and it may be the game of the week. GDKO Bizkaia will play on the road against Segle XXI (#11) in Barcelona and hope to win that game.
