There was a small surprise in Vilagarcia Arousa where ninth ranked Cortegada (5-6) defeated 6th ranked Mataro Parc (6-6) 52-42 on Saturday. Cortegada held Mataro Parc to an opponent 21.4 percent shooting from the field compared to 29.2 percent accuracy of the winners. Worth to mention a great performance of Brazilian-Italian Izabella Sangalli (184-95) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Sara Gomez (172-86, agency: ProDep Management) who added 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Judy Jones (175-90, college: Grand Canyon) with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 21 rebounds and power forward Marta Claret (185-92) scored 11 points. Cortegada moved-up to eighth place in Group A. Mataro Parc lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth position with six games lost. Cortegada will face ADBA (#10) in Aviles in the next round.
