Regular Season Round 18: Tokyo Big Blue - Aisin AW 59-85

Bottom-ranked Tokyo Big Blue (0-11) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 85-59 loss to seventh ranked Aisin AW (7-4) in Tokyo on Saturday evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Tokyo Big Blue's 26. They outrebounded Tokyo Big Blue 56-31 including a 25-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Aisin AW looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Tokyo Big Blue's players. The best player for the winners was American forward Kevin Kotzur (203-89, college: St.Mary's, TX) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 20 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 blocks. Niyokwizera Yves chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Andre Murray (188-87, college: Portland St.) who recorded 20 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Kota Goto (176-94) added 11 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Aisin AW have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Toyoda Gosei. Loser Tokyo Big Blue still closes the standings with 11 games lost. Aisin AW will have a break next round.
