Regular Season Round 23: Mineros - Angeles 80-79

Seventh-ranked Angeles (6-16) were very close to win a game against first ranked Mineros (17-5). Mineros managed to secure only one-point victory 80-79. However their fans expected much easier game. Mineros players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Wendell McKines (198-88, college: N.Mexico St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists. Dominican-Puerto Rican swingman Jonathan Rodriguez (196-87, college: Campbell) helped adding 19 points and 6 rebounds. Puerto Rican forward Carlos Lopez-Sosa (208-90, college: UNLV) responded with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and American power forward Bryan Davis (206-86, college: Texas A&M) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds. Mineros maintains first place with 17-5 record. Angeles lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the seventh position with 16 games lost. Mineros will play against Libertadores (#6) in Queretaro in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Angeles will play at home against Correcaminos and hope to get back on the winning track.
