Sixteenth-ranked Varese (2-11) used its home court advantage to challenge seventh ranked Vicenza (7-5) on Saturday. The visitors from Vicenza managed to secure only three-point victory 50-47. However their fans expected much easier game. Vicenza forced 20 Varese turnovers. It was a very good performance for Croatian power forward Ivona Matic (190-86) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 6 rebounds. Swingman Anna Colombo (175-92) contributed with 7 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Alessandra Visconti (187-87) answered with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds and guard Francesca Misto (175-95) added 12 points in the effort for Varese. Varese's coach Lilli Ferri tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Vicenza maintains seventh place in A2 with 7-5 record. Newly promoted Varese keeps the sixteenth position with 11 games lost. Vicenza will face Bolzano BK (#8) at home in the next round. Varese will play against Carugate (#11) in Corugate and hope to win that game.
