Everything went according to plan in Empoli where thirteenth ranked USE Basket (5-7) outleveled 15th ranked Siena Virtus (2-10) 87-56 on Saturday. They outrebounded Siena Virtus 43-31 including 32 on the defensive glass. Forward Gabriele Giarelli (200-93, agency: Octagon Europe) fired a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Point guard Filippo Giannini (184-91) chipped in 12 points. Five USE Basket players scored in double figures. Alessandro Pucci (198-96) produced 18 points and power forward Stefano Simeoli (204-86) added 6 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. USE Basket moved-up to twelfth place in B. Newly promoted Siena Virtus keep the fifteenth position with ten games lost. USE Basket will face league's second-placed Fiorentina in Firenze in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Siena Virtus will play on the road against Vigevano (#3) having rather not much hope for a victory.
